Thursday: Suns 8, Biscuits 2

Audy Ciriaco knocked in three runs and the Jacksonville Suns pulled away for an 8-2 win over the Biscuits in Thursday's series opener.

Rehabbing major leaguer Nate Eovaldi gave up two runs in six innings to help the Suns leap over the Biscuits in the Southern League's first-half South Division standings.

With four games remaining in the first half, and first-place Mobile and second-place Mississippi still playing, the Biscuits are two games out and in fourth place. Jacksonville is 1 1/2 off the lead.

Biscuits starter Jake Thompson, who had won four straight starts, served up two home runs and allowed six runs in 6 2/3 innings. He walked three and struck out eight.

Ciriaco took him deep for a two-run shot in a three-run third inning that gave Jacksonville a 3-0 lead. Kyle Jensen's solo shot in the sixth made it 4-2. The Suns added two runs in both the seventh and eighth innings.

The Biscuits scored in the fifth inning. Robby Price singled in Todd Glaesmann and scored on a Mark Thomas double.
