Merrill Kelly gave up four runs in 5 1/3 innings with a career-high 10 strikeouts in his Durham debut. (His previous high was six, which he reached three times). Leslie Anderson singled, walked three times and scored. Tim Beckham singled, walked twice and scored.

Sean Bierman gave up three runs (two earned) over six innings. Leonardo Reginatto and Marty Gantt singled twice. Gantt knocked in Reginatto in the fifth inning.
