Adam Conley fired seven strong innings and the Jacksonville Suns helped eliminate the Biscuits from the first-half playoff race with Friday's 6-2 win.
With first-place Mobile's win at Mobile, the Biscuits trail the BayBears by 3 1/2 games in the first-half South Division race. There are just three games left in the half.
Conley (6-2) gave up one earned run on seven hits with eight strikeouts, part of Montgomery's season-high 13 whiffs. He's 6-1 over his last seven starts and, in his last three games, has a 1.45 ERA.
The Biscuits led 2-1 in the middle of the fourth. Mikie Mahtook doubled in Robi Estrada in the third and Todd Glaesmann doubled and scored in the fourth.
But the Suns used two walks and scored three two-out runs in the bottom of the fourth. Noah Perio and Danny Black hit consecutive doubles with Perio's scoring two.
Jacksonville stretched the lead with leadoff home runs by Kyle Jensen in the sixth inning off Braulio Laray and Jake Marisnick in the seventh off Marquis Fleming.
