Suns' Smith lauded after bashing Biscuits

Jacksonville first baseman Curt Smith, after a big series against the Biscuits, won the Southern League's hitter of the week award.

Smith was 9-for-17 with four RBIs and five runs scored against the Biscuits and capped the week with a 2-for-4 Sunday that included a three-run home run against Pensacola. He's hitting .263 this year.

Pensacola left-hander Tony Cingrani was the top pitcher after piling up 15 strikeouts over eight shutout innings against the Jackson Generals on Wednesday. Cingrani gave up three hits and one walk. He's 2-1 with a 2.15 ERA in five starts.
