Hot (darn), Ryan Reid is headed to the big leagues.
The right-handed relief pitcher, with the Biscuits from 2008-11, has been called up by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Reid made 125 appearances for Montgomery, the second most in Biscuits history.
The 28-year-old was 6-1 with an 0.52 ERA in 20 appearances at Triple-A Indianapolis this season. In 34 2/3 innings, he had 20 hits allowed, nine walks and 31 strikeouts.
The Pirates begin a three-game series tonight in Atlanta.
Reid is in line to be the 59th big-league Biscuit and the third to make his debut this season. As far as the years he played for the Biscuits, he'd be the eighth from the 2008 team, eighth from 2009, eighth from 2010 and fifth from 2011.
(Trivia time: Who has made the most appearances in Biscuits, with 198? That's easy. Adding to the level of difficulty, though not by much, who is third with 105?)
